Vickie Collins, dabbling in culture and just being herself here at Multiply

Today is Art sunday, and this is travel month.  I think this is an optional theme of feasting also, but two out of three aint bad, I always say.  This fits, in my estimation two of those three categories. (warning I love just about any sci-fiction because of this fantastical travel possiblity)

Art is almost anything that affects the human spirit, I have heard it said.  Travel is a way of going to new places.  On the Sci-Fi channel on cable in the United States, or at least in my area of the US, there is a show that I think combines these two admirable.  Certainly the show qualifies as Art using this definiation, because it touches at least one spirit..ie mine.  It is also about travel, altought not in space, at least to other ideas of reality.

The show starts out with a man driving across country who happens upon this idyllic small town in the northeast.  He stops off there, and subsquently gets hired as the sherriff.  It turns out,  however that this little village is a special experiment which has assemblied some of the best scientific minds in the United States, if not the world into one small town.  What I especially love about the show is the juxaposition of typical small town gossip and life with the most fantastic of events including strange new discoveries (often found out about after some disaster or other happens as a result of their mishandling) or even glimpses into the past. vis-a-vis time travel.

Looking at the pictures attached will give you a vague idea how truely bizarre, and interesting the show can be.

Travelling is an art in itself, and also the best way of learning. My father believed in that and he passed that on to me, so I took my sons everywhere I could since early childhood. Then there's the second part of it, consolidating what you learned through reading. A tv show can be part of the process too and that one seems interesting, I never heard of it before, maybe someday we'll be able to watch it here too.
